MS Teams

MS Teams is Office 365 software that can be used to create teams. In a MS Teams workgroup, you can have conversations, video conferences, and create and manage files.

Moodle and MS Teams integration

NB! The integration between Moodle and MS Teams will end at the end of June 2025. If you wish to continue using MS Teams for teaching purposes, you will need to create the Teams workgroup manually (it is also possible to create a classroom workgroup) and invite students to join the group.

Using MS Teams for teaching

If you wish to create an MS Teams group for teaching purposes, please create the group manually in MS Teams. If desired, you can also create a classroom workgroup.

The following options are available in the MS Teams classroom:

  • hold text conversations
  • hold video conferences
  • manage files jointly
  • manage notes
  • give students assignments to which they can submit an answer as a file and assess the submitted works (MS Teams classroom functionality)

To invite students to join the workgroup, click the button with three dots (…) next to the workgroup name and select Get link to the team. Copy the generated link and send it to the students you wish to invite to the workgroup.

If a new study group starts and you wish to use the same MS Teams group

If you start using the same MS Teams workgroup with a new study group:

  1. Remove the old members from the workgroup.
  2. Ensure that the new members do not have access to the personal data of the previous members.

If the MS Teams workgroup has personal conversations or files from previous students (including access to video session recordings containing personal data from previous students), you, as the owner of the MS Teams workgroup, have an obligation to delete personal data, unless otherwise agreed with the previous learners. You can delete the data of the previous study group manually (in case of a conversation, each post must be deleted separately).

Creating a new MS Teams group for a new study group

If there is a large amount of data to be deleted, we recommend archiving the old workgroup (see the guide) and creating a new workgroup for the new study group.
