Module 2: Datafication of Collections: Opportunities for Innovation in the novel European Data Space for Cultural Heritage

Abstract

This module aims to provide HE students and CHO professionals with the necessary understanding of datafication in collections and the knowledge and skills to plan for datafication and to accommodate and support diverse potential uses. The module is designed to share knowledge and examples on one particular current trend of innovating in the digital cultural heritage domain, which is instrumental within the current transition to European data space for cultural heritage.

 

Learning outcomes

After this module, participants are expected to:

  • Understand the emerging new ecosystem of the Common European Data Space for Cultural Heritage

  • Acquire an in-depth understanding of the notion of datafication of collections

  • Understand the relation of this type of innovation with other types of open innovation CHOs

  • Explore how academia-CHO cooperation can boost datafication

  • Identify strategies for involving citizens in relevant activities

  • Design practical plans for datafication within the scenarios of specific institutions

 

Module structure and components:

Unit 1 provides an overview of datafication and analysis its place in the current trends of open innovation and data spaces.

Unit 2 focuses on tools and frameworks which help to develop a practical datafication activity.

Unit 3 provides space for practical implementation and peer learning.

Unit 4 provides information on tools supporting datafication.

Unit 5 provides information on consolidating ideas into a speficic institutional digital strategy

 

Duration: 15 hours.
