Empowering Social Sciences Educators on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Classroom

Final event “EmpowerAI: Insights, Practice & the Road Ahead” hosted in Tartu

On September 9, the EmpowerAI consortium will host the final event “EmpowerAI: Insights, Practice & the Road Ahead”  of the project “Empowering Social Sciences Educators on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Classroom” at the University of Tartu.

This final event will serve as the main multiplier event, aiming to engage a wide range of stakeholders within higher education institutions (HEIs)—including academic staff, administrative and support personnel, and university leadership. Its purpose is to share the key findings of the EmpowerAI project with the broader university community and to reflect on future trends and the broader impact of AI on teaching and learning.

The event program will feature two panel discussions. The first panel will highlight the main outcomes of the EmpowerAI training, focusing on lessons learned from developing training materials and conducting pilot sessions at partner institutions. Panelists will include EmpowerAI consortium members from the University of Tartu, Kaunas University of Technology, Tampere University, and the University of Helsinki.

The second panel will explore future trends in AI and their implications for teaching and learning. The discussion will focus particularly on how AI influences critical thinking and assessment practices. Panelists will also examine and compare current initiatives and practices in higher education, assessing their relevance and applicability within the Nordic-Baltic context.
