Outer style circle

The outer style circle is primarily used to communicate with target groups outside the university. This circle is meant to involve a community in a topic relevant to them, for which the unit may use a distinctive design.

The outer circle is also divided into faculties and topics, like the middle circle.

As the outer circle encompasses many different aims and target audiences, there is a justified need for visual distinction. This is why there is more room for creativity and a larger selection of colour palettes and design options.

Geometric elements in the outer circle

In the outer circle, it is mandatory to use frames with signature blue elements.

In addition to the rectangles placed at 0-, 15- and –15-degree angles, other geometrical background elements may be added to the content area of the designed surface. Their corners must coincide with the crossing points of the base grid lines.

When placing a rectangle at a 15- or –15-degree angle, at least one corner must lie on the base grid.

Background elements must intersect with the edge of the designed surface.

Background elements may be either in a single colour or filled with a photo or other image material.

Colours in the outer circle

The palette of an outer-circle unit includes signature blues and one extra palette colour. One extra palette colour and its lighter and darker shade per one designed surface may be used.

The proportions of the faculty or topic colour and extra palette colour are not strictly defined.

Using the signature blue in the design (as a frame element) is mandatory.

The extra palette colours must not be used as font colour. It is also advisable to avoid pure black.

Colours outside of the palette must not be used in design elements.

Also, the principles of the core visual identity may be used. In this case, the extra palette colours or the geometric shapes of the outer circle must not be used.
