Week 1: Introduction to multilingualism and plurilingualism
In the introductory week, you will get acquainted with some of the key concepts used in this course, such as the difference between multilingualism and plurilingualism. You will be able to reflect on your own linguistic repertoire and compare it with that of other Europeans. We will also look at linguistic and cultural diversity from different perspectives, both present and past.
How old is multilingualism in Europe? How we understand what multilingualism actually is? How languages affect the personal development of plurilingual people? These are just some questions that we address in this week. Enjoy the introductory week!
