A ribbon-type cuff for mittens (Latvia, Latgale region)
Title of the workshop: Knitting a ribbon-type cuff for mittens (Latvia, Latgale region)
First, a ribbon-type band is knitted separately on two needles. After that, both ends are knitted or crocheted together. The pattern is formed by using a garter stitch knitting in different colours.
Baiba Pilane (b. 1967) is an administrator of Craft House of Riga Culture Center “Iļģuciems”, head of Studio of Applied Folk Arts “Irbi” (Riga), knitting teacher of Studio of Applied Folk Arts “Avots” (Dobele). Besides that she teached masterclasses of modern knitting (short rows, patchwork or modular knitting etc.
