University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia
The University of Vic (UVic – UCC) is an independent state support educational institution with a commitment to public service through teaching, research and knowledge transfer in its specialist fields. UVic – UCC aims to drive forward knowledge and innovation for regional development, with an international outlook. Its structure is comprised by more than 7,300 university students in degree program, 790 teachers, and 240 professional and administrative services. Besides, the studies offer includes 30 university degrees, 9 university masters and 8 doctoral programs. Research at UVic-UCC is organised through 30 research groups in the fields of Experimental Science, Medicine, Humanities and Social Sciences. In addition to this, the UVic-UCC integrates an International Campus. This is an umbrella organisation for all the UVic-UCC activities aimed at the international public: teaching mobility and exchange programs, Master’s Degrees and postgraduate’s courses, research, continuing education and international cooperation projects. As a University, lifelong learning and research are two of our major concerns.
The Faculty of Health and Welfare Sciences of UVic – UCC was born 40 years ago with the name of Osona School of Nursing. Currently it offers degrees in Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Human Nutrition and Dietetics and Social Work, and Masters in Palliative Care for the Elderly, Advanced Social Policies and Community Action, and Health Research. And also the doctoral program on Comprehensive Care and Health Services. We are a Faculty of reference, with a holistic vision of the person and a unique and quality training model, oriented to the research and innovation at the international level, in order to improve the health of the population and the quality of life and to eliminate inequalities in health. The agreement signed with Vic Hospital Consortium (CHV) is the ideal framework for teachers/researchers to lead and ensure excellence in the classroom, laboratory, simulation and clinical practice. and generate synergies that foster clinical research and health outcomes, as well as innovation at a time of radical change in health care.
