Why go to study?

Autor: Kätriin Säde

When planning your further studies, you should first consider what motivates you. There can be various reasons, for example:

  • satisfying intellectual curiosity, the desire to learn more, and in more depth, about a particular topic;
  • acquiring specific knowledge and skills for professional work;
  • acquiring a required qualification, such as a master’s degree in education for teachers, a degree in law for lawyers, or in medicine for doctors and nurses;
  • satisfying personal interests, testing your abilities, or self-discovery;
  • general wish to raise your level of education, expanding job prospects;
  • gaining the respect of others and/or achieving economic security;
  • the desire to be useful to society, to change the world;
  • gaining new experiences, the desire to live and study in another country;
  • bringing variety to your life, studying as a hobby;
  • making new contacts;
  • it is a good alternative to going to work or being unemployed.
