Tartu Conference on East European and Eurasian Studies
Conference registration
Registration for the conference will open on our website on 20 February and close for presenters on 20 April. Participants who fail to register and to pay the conference fee by the deadline will be removed from the conference programme.
Participants can register for the conference by logging into OnlineExpo using the login and password that has been sent to them.
Guest registration will remain open until 4 June. However, to facilitate planning and preparation, we recommend that all guests register as early as possible. The guest registration form will be available upon request. If you are willing to attend our conference as a guest, please send us an email at tartuconference@ut.ee requesting the link for registration.
The registration fee for participants and guests is 120€ (discount fee for students 80€), non-refundable. For scholars whose primary affiliation is with an Ukrainian institution, participation fee will be waived. To request a discount or a waiver, please write to tartuconference@ut.ee.
Applying for a visa
Should you require a visa to enter Estonia, please contact conference organisers, who will be able to provide you with the official invitation needed in the visa process. The organisers can only provide invitation letters to presenters of the conference.
Please state the following information about the person for whom the visa invitation is meant in an e-mail to tartuconference@ut.ee:
- Full name (as it stands in passport)
- Citizenship
- Sex
- Date of birth
- Place of birth
- Passport number
- Issue and expiration dates of the passport
- Name of the issuing authority of the passport
- The particular Estonian Embassy or Visa Centre where you wish to apply for the visa
Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ website suggests that the usual processing time for short-term (C-type) visa applications is 15 calendar days, but we advise you to check with embassies/consulates of Estonia or a country that operates on behalf of Estonia if you need to make an appointment in advance.
Restrictions on accepting visa applications for Russian citizens
The Government of the Republic of Estonia has imposed a restriction on citizens of the Russian Federation applying for short-term visas from 19 September 2022. Visa applications for conference travel are not accepted until further notice. If you already have a Schengen visa or other documents valid for entry, please make sure you can travel to Estonia before proceeding with conference registration. More information on the restrictions and visas for Russian citizens can be found on the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ website.
Restrictions on non-biometric Russian passports
Starting from 31 March 2025, the Republic of Estonia no longer recognises non-biometric foreign passports issued by the Russian Federation. More information can be found on the website of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia.
