Tartu Conference on East European and Eurasian Studies
Eighth Annual Tartu Conference (2024)
The Eighth Annual Tartu Conference was held under the theme “Area Studies in Crisis? In Search of New Approaches in East European and Eurasian Studies?“ on 20-21 June 2024 and brought together 220 participants from across the world. The conference was organized by the University of Tartu’s Centre for Eurasian and Russian Studies (CEURUS) and supported by the U.S Embassy in Tallinn, the City Government of Tartu, and the UT Faculty of Social Sciences.
Keynote speech on the topic of “Unbounding Central Asia: Geopolitics from Below and Global Connections” was delivered by Asel Doolotkeldieva, a Nonresidential Fellow at George Washington University, based in Kazakhstan, and Natalie Koch, Professor in the Department of Geography and the Environment at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.
