Submit a Proposal

All paper, panel and roundtable proposals for the Ninth Annual Tartu Conference must be submitted using the OnlineExpo online platform. The submission portal will close midnight EET (UTC+02:00) on 20 January 2025.

If you wish to make changes to your proposal after it has been submitted, please contact the organisers: tartuconference@ut.ee

Submit an Individual Paper

  • Individual papers will be assigned to panels by the Programme Committee. Panels entail the presentation of prepared papers on a related topic or theme, followed by a structured discussion of those papers
  • Each paper proposal must include the name(s) and contact details of all authors, a title, an abstract of up to 300 words, and a list of up to 5 keywords which will help us to place your paper on the most suitable panel
  • In the case of a co-authored paper, only one of the co-authors needs to submit the proposal
  • There is no need to submit an individual paper proposal for a paper that is already part of an organised panel

Submit a Full Panel

  • Panels entail presentation of prepared papers on a related topic or theme, followed by a structured discussion of those papers. A full panel must have one chair, 3-4 paper-givers, and one discussant;
  • Panel proposals must include 1) a panel abstract, 2) names, affiliations and contact information of all speakers, along with abstracts of the proposed papers (max 250 words each);
  • The organiser of the panel (who can be the chair or one of the speakers) should submit the required information for the entire panel. The organiser is responsible for obtaining the permission to do so from the speakers/other participants;
  • There is no need to submit an individual paper proposal for a paper that is already part of an organised panel;
  • The presenters on a panel must be from at least two different institutions;
  • Proposals for multidisciplinary panels are welcome.
  • We welcome panel proposals that include chair and discussant names and contact details. However, we do understand that it is often difficult to identify potential chairs and discussants in advance. If you do not have a chair at the time of submission, please leave these fields blank and indicate in the ‘Remark/Message’ field that you would like the chair to be replaced later.

Submit a Roundtable Proposal

  • Roundtables entail a structured discussion of a relevant topic/theme, without the presentation of papers. Participants of a roundtable will talk with each other and with the audience about a common topic on which they have diverse experience or perspectives. Proposals for roundtables should be submitted only when the topic clearly justifies this format;
  • Roundtable must have a chair and 3–4 speakers;
  • Roundtable proposals must include the names, affiliations and contact information of the chair and all speakers. The chair of the roundtable should submit the required information for all speakers. The chair is responsible for obtaining the permission to do so from the speakers;
  • The speakers on a roundtable must be from at least two different institutions, and preferably from at least two different countries;
  • Proposals for multidisciplinary roundtables are welcome.
