Future skills

Future skills are transferable skills that need to be developed to be competitive in the labour market.

In the Skytte internship course, you need to choose at least one of the future skills from the list below which you would like to develop during your internship. You will have to describe and analyse the development of these skills also in your report after the internship.

• Self-management skills

Self-management is the ability to identify your needs and goals, to choose the right way to achieve them and assess results, and motivate yourself to do that.

• Communication skills

Communication skills mean the ability to create a connection with a person, to listen to them, and to express oneself clearly.

• Cooperation skills

Cooperation is the ability to work with people towards common goals, to negotiate them, to share tasks and responsibilities between team members and to put plans into action.

• Problem solving

Problem solving is the ability to analyse and understand the nature of a problem, to see possible solutions, to evaluate them and to choose and implement the most appropriate one.

• Creativity

Creativity is the ability to approach a subject or situation in a creative way and generate new knowledge.

• Critical thinking

Critical thinking is the process of analysing ideas, claims and situations to understand their credibility, justification and validity.

• Digital skills

Digital literacy refers to the ability to use digital environments and tools purposefully and securely, and to create, evaluate and protect digital content.

• Entrepreneurial spirit

Entrepreneurial spirit involves the ability and courage to initiate and experiment with new opportunities and solutions.

• Sustainable mindset

A sustainable mindset involves the ability to assess and manage the wider impacts of one’s actions on the environment, health and cultural sustainability.

NB! All students who developed skills from the previous list “Future skills 2025” will also have to analyse these same skills in their report.

All students who begin their internship in the academic year 2026/27 use the skills listed above.
