Riste Lehari

Riste Lehari (born 21 May 1989) is a copywriter and writer.

Lehari was born in Tallinn. She has completed Tallinn Art Gymnasium. Riste Lehari’s mother Krista Lehari is a jewellery designer, grandmother Kaia Lehari an associate professor emerita of the Estonian Academy of Arts whose research area is environmental aesthetics. Riste Lehari studied theology at the University of Tartu. Her bachelor’s thesis defended in 2013 was on art history — Värvussümboolika kujunemisest varakristlikus kunstis Galla Placidia mausoleumi mosaiikide näitel (‘Formation of Colour Symbolism in the Early Christianity on the basis of the mosaics of the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia’, supervised by M. Lepajõe and K. Alttoa).

After completing her studies, Lehari worked as administrator at Tartu New Theatre for nearly six years. Thereafter, she has worked as a copywriter.

Riste Lehari has contributed to the journals Värske Rõhk and Vikerkaar.  In 2022, she published her first short story collection Kafe. A characteristic feature of Lehari’s short stories is the nearly unnoticeable transition from the real world to the dreamworld; they contain inner monologues and fantasy.
