Tia Navi (real name Tiia Kõnnussaar, born 12 April 1965) is a children’s writer and editor.
Tiia Kõnnussaar was born in Võru. She has defenced a master’s degree in the speciality of media and communication at the University of Tartu. She was one of the founders of the magazine Pere ja Kodu (1994) and was its first editor-in-chief from 1994–2011. Her writings have been published in many Estonian periodicals, including the newspapers Sirp and Õpetajate Leht. Kõnnussaar has edited many publications of the University of Tartu. From 1 January 2022, she has been the managing editor of Universitas Tartuensis, the magazine of the University of Tartu. She is a member of the Estonian Writers’ Union from 2018.
Under the name of Tia Navi, she has published numerous books for children. Her books have been translated into Finnish, Romanian and Korean. A significant place in Navi’s books for children belongs to nature and getting along with all the living beings; this is intertwined with fantasy and mild humour.
