University of Tartu and the Estonian Business School invite master's and doctoral students to the conference "Economy and Culture between the European Union and Japan", which will take place on 14-15. October at the University of Tartu and focuses on the economic relations between the European Union and Japan, with special emphasis on the role of culture in the successful establishment and maintenance of these relations.

the site of the research project "Orthodoxy as solidarity: an examination of popular and conciliar Orthodoxy in Estonia during the long 20th century" based at the University of Tartu and funded by the Estonian Research Council. The project is a combination of historical and theological research. The project offers a case-study of Orthodox solidarity in the Baltic with the focus on Estonia which was expressed in councils, assemblies, charitable associations, brotherhoods, monasticism that crossed ethnic, geographical and social divides. We study this through the concept of conciliarity looking at specific practices in which religious solidarity was expressed.
