Radicalisation: Entering, Exiting, and Preventing Extremism

This unique course opens the door to radicalisation by focusing on why people radicalise, join extremist organisations, and disengage and/or deradicalise. Using personal, local, and academic sources, the course also aims to offer an overview of terms and concepts used in this field and tools that teachers can use in the classroom. In addition, participants can hear more about extremist organisations and their support narratives that often motivate their members to join them. At the end of the course, participants have basic knowledge of the main concepts and understand the motivational factors of radicalizing and involvement in extremism and leaving it. Also, about common narratives to widely spread ideologies like Islamism, right-wing extremism, and incel movement. Finally, participants are provided an overview of tools used in school environments to support the prevention of extremism and the role of the school in tackling it if needed.
