2.4. “Rāndaliz loul” / “The Livonian’s Song”
The poem “Rāndaliz loul” (The Livonian’s Song, lit. The Coastdweller’s Song) was written by Kōrli Stalte (1870–1947), a Livonian cultural figure, writer, translator, teacher, and editor of the newspaper Līvli.
Rāndakēļ, mi’n jemākēļ
pivā mi’nnõn u’m si’n ēļ.
Kis võib rāndakīeldõ u’nnõ,
unūb ka eņtš jemā sõ’nnõ.
Rāndakīelsõ rõkāndizt
vanād līvõd, rāndalizt.
Rāndakīelsõ lōlõd lōlizt,
rāndakīelsõ jumālt pǭlizt.
Rāndakīeldõ rõkāndõm,
sīepierāst, ku ārmaztõm.
Vȯ’lmõ seļļizt kui mä’d izād,
līvlizt nemē kivīd vizād.
