IO2: Prototype of a tourism service for people with intellectual impairment
The second output of the project was to prototype services for mentally impaired people, together with field organizations in the project. Each partner university compiled a team of staff and students who implemented prototyping the services for their partner organization from the field.
Thomas More University was working together with Museum Dr. Guislain in Ghent. Their team involved postgraduate students in Space and Service Development program and staff from Thomas More University. Students visited Museum Dr. Guislain in Ghent for several days to analyze the services and clients. Pärnu College, University of Tartu implemented prototyping into the course “Design and development of tourism services” and cooperated with Pärnu Museum which was a project partner from the field. There were 63 students, in total, including in-process who in sub-groups developed their ideas into prototypes of museum services. At the end of the course, all sub-groups presented their prototypes to the international project jury. At the end of the process, Pärnu Museum chose the prototype to develop a new product for their service.
The University of Latvia invited students to participate in study groups to create inclusive tourism services (https://www.lu.lv/par-mums/lu-mediji/zinas/zina/t/67470/) and compiled a team from the staff of LU Institute of Philosophy and Sociology and volunteering students. They were working together with Hotel Zeit in Ligatne.
