About the project

Project “Tackling Sensitive Topics in a Classroom” created materials for Eastern European teachers and educators to increase their ability to discuss topics. The project is funded by Erasmus+ and implemented by the University of Tartu, University of Hradec Králové, Central European University, and Warsaw School of Economics (SGH).

Tools we create

MOOCs and e-courses

MOOCs give participating students and teachers of general and higher education knowledge on Islam, extremism, and gender-related questions. Also, they provide information on how to address questions linked to the topics in a classroom. E-courses provide insight to social workers on working with foreigners and strategies for future teachers to create an equal and tolerant environment for working with minorities.

Guidelines

Guidance material supports teachers of higher and general education institutions in understanding sensitive issues themselves and in knowing how to address these issues with references to ethical, non-discrimination, and postcolonial approaches. 

Toolbox

Toolbox aims to provide meaningful pedagogical solutions and strategies to bridge and leverage cultural differences that may arise between students and their professors and teachers and among students in the classroom.

E-modules

E-modules focuse on very specific topics and provide materials for the teachers on how to tackle them in the classroom. Each one of them includes a theoretical overview of the topic, ethical dilemmas of tackling the matter in the classroom as well as tasks that can be used with students.
