Would you like to contribute to the development of novel smart materials?

Nowadays, research and technological developments are increasingly focusing on smart and multifunctional materials, i.e., materials capable of responding to external stimuli. A particular type of these materials is based on ultraviolet (UV)-curable polymer composites combined with various filler materials, which …

Would you like to contribute to the development of allergy-free milk?

We offer a position for studies of metal–organic framework (MOF)–protein interactions in dairy/whey model systems. The project aims to understand how whey proteins interact with functional MOF-based surfaces and how these interactions can be tuned for selective fractionation (e.g., targeting …

Would you like to unravel the secrets of a photoactive sensor protein?

The photoactive orange carotenoid protein (OCP) plays a pivotal role in the photoprotection of cyanobacteria and undergoes a significant structural change towards its active state structure upon illumination. Information on the OCP photocycle has so far mainly been gathered from …

Who are we looking for:

Students from Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or Biology are very welcome. A solid background in physics and/or biophysics as well as a strong motivation for hands-on experimental work and working in international neutron facilities abroad is highly appreciated. We use various software tools to analyze structure and dynamics of solid matter so that interest in data analysis using computer simulations and/or experience with Python/Origin or similar is helpful. Also experience with sample preparation (protein solutions, colloids, membranes) is a plus.
