FAST-Real Objectives

Implementation of FAST-Real project will strengthen the research excellence of the University of Tartu in the field of antimicrobial surfaces design, development and testing. It will stimulate growth of the pool of skilled and motivated researchers in this field, increase the academic skills, proposal preparation and management competence as well as proficiency in innovation transfer.

Specific Objectives

• increase the research excellence of early-stage researchers and staff of the University of Tartu by increasing the qualifications in
  1. design, synthesis and characterization of visible light activated materials,
  2. real-life relevant antimicrobial effect testing protocols,
  3. antimicrobial resistance evolution in the presence of antimicrobial stress;
• condensation of antimicrobial material-related research at UTARTU to a virtual knowledge hub
• strengthening of research management, administration and innovation skills of UTARTU research and administrative staff;
• improvement of the UTARTU’s competitiveness for R&D funding;
• foundation of long-term cooperation between the partners;
• enhancement of UTARTU’s networking channels and visibility among different stakeholders;
• improvement of the gender balance and development of diverse, inclusive environment at UTARTU.
