You should know before you click…

All STATE materials are processed using the Lumi application which allows you to create, edit, view and share interactive content with dozens of different content types.  Within this program, two types of sharing were selected (Interactive Book, Branching Scenario). Both of them have their own specifics when it comes to creating content as well as viewing it.

1) Interactive Book

As the name suggests, this type of sharing offers its reader an opportunity to arrange texts into a book. The text can be supplemented with pictures or quizzes (true/false, correct answers, word completion, …). For quizzes, it is possible to perform an evaluation immediately.

After starting the presentation of the book, the reader can see the main pages of the book or switch to individual pages, and there is also an option to return to the previous page. On the left side, the reader is shown the contents of the interactive book. It is recommended to always scroll down the page, as there may be another part that did not fit into the preview of the presentation (e.g. pictures, quizzes, questions, …). You can go back to the table of contents or switch to the next page using the arrows situated at the top and bottom of the book presentation.

Moreover, some pages of the interactive book are provided with icons that need to be clicked on to display more text. These are icons like ?, #, i etc.

2) Branching Scenario

This type of presentation (sharing) is displayed in the administrator environment as a mind map, a spider. The result is an interactive presentation in which one can “move” at their discretion. The reader can choose from the menu of individual topics, and then from the levels of teaching activities.

The disadvantage of this type of sharing is the inability to go back in the presentation. The reader must click through to the end of the displayed topic/level, then he can return to the choice of another level of an educational activity or to the topic menu.

Individual slides include a text, video (a link to YouTube or another stream – can be played directly in the presentation), images or a hyperlink that opens in the presentation when it is clicked on. If you prefer to open it in a new tab, hold the CTRL key and use the left mouse button to click on the link. Since this is a foreign program, there was a problem with fonts and Czech (or other) diacritics. For this reason, the texts are created in another editor and inserted as images.
