Exercise 3: Being donor

The teacher plays one of the videos on transplantation:

Afterwards, the teacher divides the class into several groups (depending on the number of students) and asks every group to prepare a “donor card” for a member of the Muslim community living in a country in Europe.
Watching excerpts from a social campaign in favour of organ donations will help students to familiarise with the Muslim perspective on this issue. A discussion about the symbolism that could be included on such a card may provide a good starting point for the design of such a card. This may include religious symbols such as green or a crescent moon. However, the presence of religious elements on the card is not obligatory, as the decision to become a donor does not have to be religiously motivated. Designing such a card will help students to remember that from the Islamic point of view being a donor is permissible. In addition, it can also be a stimulus to explore how other religions address the matter.
