FLLC.01.007 Life in the English Country House
Dear students,
The texts below are meant for independent reading, with the guidance provided by Questions for Sessions. The discussion in class is based on your reading, so it is up to you how you make sure that you have your answers to the questions at your fingertips. Some people make notes while they read and that is a very good way to prepare for the exam, as the session questions and exam questions will be the same. Some people take their laptops with them to class in order to access the texts. Telephones are a popular choice but they are clumsy when you have to search large chunks of text for your answer.
When the assignment contains poems, take the texts with you to class, as we are going to go through them together.
Reading the novels should be taken very seriously. There is no way you can bypass them, as they are such an essential part of the course. Your reading of them will be checked most assiduously.
