Scholarships and allowances

Scholarships are a good way to fund studies and are open to a wide range of students. Besides governmental scholarships and allowances there is a number of non-governmental scholarships one can apply for.

Governmental allowances

Need-based study allowance and need-based special allowance can be applied during the entire semester (from September to January), but the allowance is payed starting from the month of application (not backwards).

Europe scholarships for students with disabilities

Google, in partnership with EmployAbility, invites applications for its Europe scholarships for students with disabilities. These enable students with disabilities to pursue education and careers in computer science. Applicants must be studying computer science, computer engineering, informatics or a closely related technical field. Ten scholarships, worth €7,000 each, are available and cover tuition, fees, books, supplies and equipment. Application deadline December 4.

 

Grants in Berlin

The Study Foundation of the Berlin House of Representatives offers scholarships for graduate students and young scholars of all fields who want to study at Berlin universities or use research facilities in Berlin. The foundation will award fifteen grants for the academic year 2021/22. The grants amount to 1,100 EUR for graduate and doctoral students; and 1,630 EUR for post-doctoral scholars per month.  Application deadline December 15.

Kristjan Jaak / Study periods abroad

The scholarship supports study periods abroad at Master's and Doctoral level at the acknowledged universities and research institutions abroad for up to one year. The scholarship can be used for participating at tuition and practice, also for individual work, laboratory work, field work and consultations in case of PhD students. Deadline for application October 15.

 

Eesti Energia scholarships

Estonian energy company Eesti Energia supports undergraduate or graduate students in IT and technology degree programs with a scholarship of EUR 1500-2000. The applications for Higher Education scholarship for the 2020/2021 academic year are welcome by email with the keyword "Scholarship" to address praktika@energia.ee lastest by October 25 2020.

Kristjan Jaak / Study periods abroad

Specialisation stipend application needs to be submitted in SIS (ÕIS) in autumn semester between September 1 and September 30. The amount of the stipend is from 160 to 300 euros per month.

Achievement stipend application needs to be submitted in SIS (ÕIS) in autumn semester between September 1 and September 30. The amount of the achievement stipend is 100 euros per month.

Need-based study allowance and need-based special allowance can be applied during the entire semester (from September to January), but the allowance is payed starting from the month of application (not backwards).

 

The application deadline of scholarship for students with special needs has been extended, and it is possible to apply during extension time in full-time studies

The scholarship for students with special needs can now be applied also by the students who study on extension time, if they complete the curriculum full-time. With broadening the target group the deadline has been extended until September 30.  

 

Kristjan Jaak short study visits

The scholarships for short-term study related visits abroad, including participation in conferences, working in libraries, using laboratories, development of a lecture, work with an academic supervisor, participation in continuing education courses, consultations and summer schools. Support is granted for the study visits lasting up to one month (30 days). The short study visit may not start earlier than one month after the application deadline. Next deadline October 1.

DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst/German Academic Exchange Service) Information Centre Riga offers scholarships and funding opportunities for research stays in Germany.

21 September – 25 September

The Estonian Research Council invites students to submit research papers to the national contest. The aim of the national contest for university students is to promote research among university students, to acknowledge students who have achieved outstanding results with their thesis, study, research or scientific publication. The Thelins F Scholarship for studies in Uppsala University

One or more scholarships are provided for Estonian students from the University in Tartu for studies at Uppsala University, especially at the Faculty of Science and Technology. Applications for this scholarship must be submitted before 2020-09-10 17:00. Jelivx Scholarship Program "Go Digital"

Jelvix offers an achievement-based Scholarship Program for students interested in science, innovative and emerging technologies, engineering. To become a participant of the program, you need to write an original 2,500-3700 word essay in English. Deadline for applying December 1, 2020.
