LIFT Symposium at WALS 2025

The LIFT project team held a wonderful symposium today at the WALS Conference in Hiroshima, Japan. We presented our approach to integrating Lesson Study into initial teacher education — including the LEAP week, blueprint, and outreach activities. Our collaboratively prepared ideas were introduced by Sui Lin Goei, Shirley Tan, Floortje Goettsch, Marisa Quaresma and Margus Pedaste.

Participants provided valuable feedback, particularly on the balance between top-down and bottom-up approaches, and emphasised the importance of collaboration with all target groups to ensure that research-based ideas reach educational practice worldwide. Many thanks to our advisory board member, Sharon Dotger, who initiated valuable discussion as the discussant in our symposium.
