UT will team up with three advanced partners: MAX IV (Sweden), an advanced partner in synchrotron science, Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ, Germany), an advanced partner in neutron science, and Imperial College London (ICL, UK), an advanced partner in materials’ modelling. The advanced partners will also provide guidance to UTARTU on research management, strengthening co-operation between different institutes.
Project management team:
In order to ensure the professional management of the EXANST project, the following structures are introduced. The leading organisation UTARTU is responsible for coordination and administrative obligations as described in the Grant and Consortium agreements.
The project management team includes project coordinator (PC) Prof. Marco Kirm, a project manager (PM), Dr. Nataliya Krutyak and Financial manager (FM) appointed by UTARTU. The PC is a chair the Steering Committee (SC) which will be the main decision-making body for the project, consisting of one representative senior staff member from each of the four project participants (UTARTU, MAX IV, ICL and FZJ). The members of SC are Prof. Marco Kirm (UTARTU), Dr. Aymeric Robert (MAX IV), Prof. Johannes Lischner (ICL) and Dr. Andreas Stadler (FZJ). The PC and SC has a duty to review progress reports from each WP, evaluate and support communication between participants. The PC/PM will communicate with the WP leaders on a regular basis (at least monthly) to monitor the project progress.
The WP leaders are appointed as follows:
WP1 MANAGEMENT (UTARTU) Marco Kirm;
WP2 IMPROVING RESEARCH MANAGEMENT (UTARTU) Juhan Matthias Kahk;
WP3 KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER ON X-RAY RESEARCH TECHNIQUES (MAX IV) Marketa Sjögren;
WP4 KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER ON NEUTRON SCATTERING TECHNIQUES (FZ JÜLICH) Andreas Stadler;
WP5 PILOT RESEARCH COMBINING X-RAY and NEUTRON TECHNIQUES TO ANALYSE SMART MATERIALS (UTARTU) Jörg Pieper and
WP6 DISSEMINATION AND COMMUNICATION (UTARTU) Vambola Kisand.
WP leaders organise activities within WP’s. An internal mailing list has been set up for communication between all participants
Advisory Board (AB):
Monitors and gives general feedback to EXANST activities and project progress as well as advice for improvements if needed. It is composed from the following internationally known scientists:
Mark Telling (neutron research, ISIS Neutron and Muon source, UK);
Dr. Wolfgang Drube (synchrotron radiation research, DESY Photon Science, Hamburg, Germany) and
Dr. Eugene Kotomin (computational materials science, ISSP, Riga, Latvia).
