About Estonia
Estonia, one of the smallest countries in Europe, is located in northern Europe, on eastern coast of the Baltic Sea, being bordered by Russia, Latvia, Finland and Sweden. The total area of the country is about 45,000 km² and population reaches ca 1.3 million. The capital of Estonia is Tallinn. Tartu, the second largest city in the country, is best known for its university, established in 1632.
Estonia is a member of the European Union and Schengen visa area since 2004. The local currency in Estonia is the Euro (EUR). See http://www.visitestonia.com for more information about Estonia.
The participants from outside EU may need a visa to enter the EU. Please find it our in the web page of the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia (http://vm.ee/en/node/6978) and contact the organizers for official invitation in due time.
Travel
Reaching Tallinn
Tallinn can be reached from many European cities by direct flights from several European cities (e.g. London, Frankfurt, Brussels ) or via nearby international airports (Helsinki, Copenhagen, Stockholm).
Reaching Tartu
Tartu can be reached from Tallinn by bus or train. The distance will be about 180 km and the travel time about 2:10-2:30. Flight connections are limited to Helsinki – please check http://www.tartu-airport.ee/eng/flightplan/arrival. Please note that the tickets may not be available from the major booking websites and you may need to pass a special request to your travel agent.
The easiest option to get to Tartu would be by bus which leaves Tallinn airport every hour (the tickets could be purchased in advance; see http://www.sebe.ee/en). The pre-conference excursion will offer another convenient opportunity for reaching Tartu.
Accommodation
In Tallinn
For the pre-conference excursion participants will need to book accommodation in Tallinn for July 21-22 (one night). 25 rooms are pre-booked in the Tallink City Hotel.
If you plan to stay in any other hotel in Tallinn, please make sure you will reach the Tallink City Hotel in right time. Should you stay in Tallinn after the conference, or after the post-conference field trip, please book hotels of your choice well in advance.

In Tartu
Rooms for the period of July 23-28, 2015 are pre-booked in four hotels and hostels of different price range. All are located in city centre, within walking distance from the conference location. The pre-booked rooms will be available under the specified conditions before the deadlines specified in the table below (please pay attention to different deadlines at different hotels!). Link to the student hostels of the University of Tartu, a budget accommodation, is also available below (no pre-booking). Please try to book in good time as other parallel events may limit the availability of hotel rooms.

There are other hotels and hostels of different size, location and price level available in Tartu. If you prefer to find and book your accommodation independently, we would recommend that you do it as early as possible.
