Final Submission

Submission Process for Autumn Defences

The deadline for submitting the final thesis is in the final week of August. An electronic copy should be uploaded to TURNITIN via the Moodle site of the University of Glasgow at same time as submitting to the 3rd mobility university. There is no separate submission to the University of Tartu, as submission to the University of Glasgow is automatically also counted as submission to Tartu.

Students must adhere to the specific regulations set out in their third partner university for the submission of theses. This information will be available to them upon arrival at their third mobility partner.

Submission Process for Winter Defences

Students with approved extensions or students who fail the autumn defence can submit their theses in January. Note that students who fail the autumn defence only have one attempt at resubmission.

The deadline for submitting the final thesis is 31 January. An electronic copy should be uploaded to TURNITIN via the Moodle site of the University of Glasgow at same time as submitting to the 3rd mobility university. There is no separate submission to the University of Tartu, as submission to the University of Glasgow is automatically also counted as submission to Tartu.

Requesting an Extension

You should note that failure to submit by the relevant thesis deadline may jeopardise the possibility of graduating in the final semester.

  • If, due to adverse personal circumstances, students are unable to complete the dissertation by the set deadline, they will have to reregister for another year of study. This will incur an additional cost of 750 Euro.
  • Students who need an extension to their dissertation should discuss the extension with their supervisors and complete the Extension Request Form and return the form (along with any supporting evidence) to Carol Cairney in the first instance.
  • If the extension request is approved by Glasgow, it is the responsibility of the student to contact Tartu and the 3rd mobility partner to complete any necessary paperwork or procedures related to the extension. There is no automatic extension at Tartu and the 3rd mobility partner universities!
