Baltic Basement Spring School 2026

Advanced Doctoral Training in Crystalline Basement Geology

27–29 May 2026
Geological Survey of Estonia Arbavere Research Center

Overview

The Baltic Basement Spring School 2026 is an intensive three-day doctoral training event dedicated to the study of crystalline basement geology beneath the Phanerozoic cover of the Baltic region.

The Spring School brings together doctoral students, master’s students and researchers from universities and geological surveys across the Baltic region and partner countries for advanced academic exchange and hands-on scientific work.

Funded by the Estonian Doctoral School, the training is designed to strengthen high-level competence in crystalline basement geology, regional correlations and modern exploration methodologies.

In alignment with the Estonian Doctoral School competence framework, the Spring School primarily support the development of research competence by advancing participants’ methodological, analytical and interpretative skills in geological research.

Through direct engagement with drill cores, geochemical datasets and geophysical methods, participants will deepen their ability to design, conduct and critically interpret scientific investigations in complex crystalline basement settings.

Primary competence supported: Teadustöö tegemine / Conducting Research

The training is funded by the Estonian Doctoral School and is designed to strengthen high-level competence in crystalline basement geology, regional correlations and modern exploration methodologies.

The event is organised from the project “Cooperation between universities to promote doctoral studies” (2021-2027.4.04.24-0003), which is co-funded by the European Union.
