Summary of 2024

Here is the summary of our previous year:

  • 8 new Wikipeedia articles were created.
  • 3 MA theses were defended:
    • “The principle of good faith in reversing the burden of proof in civil proceedings” by Brigitta Jõgi
    • “Restrictions of freedom of religion and belief in employment relationships in European Union countries and the United Kingdom” by Karine Janov
    • “Certain selling arrangements in the context of free movement of goods” by Liise Saar
  • 6 BA research papers were defended: 
    • “Protection of fundamental rights in the field of Common Foreign and Security Policy” by Aleksander Pajuri
    • “Legitimacy of implementing Article 122 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union after the Lisbon Treaty and its impact on the competences of EU institutions” by Henry Heinleht 
    • “Application of the Natura derogation under Article 6(4) of the Habitats Directive in EU Member States” (co-supervisor:  Britta Rettel) by Madelen Kalvik
    • “Protection of foreign investments through arbitration and European Union law following the Achmea judgment” by Tõnu Kirs
    • “Safeguards for privacy in automated traffic surveillance.” by Paul Kaasik
    • “Sustainability due diligence as a solution to the transnational value chain accountability gap” by Kadi Ilves
  • European Law Moot Court team 2023/2024: Melmariin Salumäe, Laura Lajal, Aleksander Pajuri, Henry Heinleht
  • Several schools were visited, including Tallinna Kesklinna Põhikool and Paide Gümnaasium.
  • We published different articles, from which we would highlight:
    • Katariina Kuum published an article based on her MA thesis in Juridica
  • We participated in various conferences and spoke in national media.
  • Dr Carri Ginter contributed to European Account Preservation Order. A multi-jurisdictional guide with a commentary.
  • Awards received:
    • Dr Kadri Härginen was recognized by Ministry of Finance.
    • President decorated dr Carri Ginter with The Order of the White Star.
  • Other recognitions:
    • Dr Carri Ginter was designated to the Panel of Arbitrators of ICSID.
