2.2. Applications for Creating Non-Textual Content

AI applications offer a variety of content creation possibilities. In addition to generating text, they can also assist in creating images, audio/music, and videos. Below are examples of applications that generate different types of content based on textual input. Most high-quality AI applications are paid, but they can often be used or tested for free with some limitations—sometimes, this is sufficient. The following applications have been selected based on this principle.

Images

The image-generation application DALL•E 3 is integrated into the Microsoft Copilot provided by the university.

Free options include DALL•E 2 and DALL•E 3, the latter of which is available through Microsoft Copilot. It is important to note that these AI applications create only artistic images without text, so they are unsuitable for making diagrams or illustrations containing text. When using prompts, you must specify the objects in the image and details such as the background and style (e.g., pencil sketch, oil painting, or cartoon). The more precise the description, the better the result—word order in the prompt can even affect the output.

Copilot also includes a visual search feature. You can ask questions about the image by clicking the image upload button, taking a photo, providing a web link, or uploading an image file.

Adobe Firefly (https://firefly.adobe.com) – A generative AI application that creates high-quality images based on text prompts. It offers various functions, including generative fill and design customisation. Users can modify composition, lighting, and style according to their needs.

Vivago (https://vivago.ai/) – Generates images based on textual descriptions, including portraits and landscapes. It provides multiple variations for users to choose from.

Autodraw (https://autodraw.com/) – A free AI application that helps users create drawings quickly and easily. It enhances simple sketches by offering automatic improvements and suggestions, making drawings more professional-looking. This application is ideal for users with little artistic skill.

Napkin (https://app.napkin.ai/) – Creates schematic diagrams based on text instructions, titles, or content.

Audio

Suno (https://suno.com/about) – Generates two-minute songs based on brief descriptions, including rhythm, melody, and lyrics. Users can provide keywords for AI-generated lyrics or request a melody for their lyrics. The free version allows up to 50 daily credits (about ten songs). Additional credits cannot be purchased, and songs created in the free version cannot be used commercially. This version is ideal for hobbyists exploring AI-generated music.

Text To Speech Free (https://ttsfree.com/text-to-speech/) – Converts text into natural-sounding speech. It supports all major languages, including Estonian. Users enter a text, select a language and voice, and the application generates an audio file that can be played directly or downloaded as an MP3.

NotebookLM (https://notebooklm.google/) – While primarily designed for managing, analysing, and structuring information from multiple sources, this application can generate English-language podcasts based on uploaded documents.

Turboscribe (https://turboscribe.ai/) – Transcribes audio files into text. The free version allows users to transcribe three files daily, each up to 30 minutes long (one file can be uploaded at a time). Transcription is processed with a lower priority, meaning longer wait times.

Video

invideo AI (https://ai.invideo.io/) – Generates videos based on a user-provided topic or idea, including script, voiceover, images, and clips. The free version uses AI-selected images and clips.

Vivago (https://vivago.ai/) – besides images, this application can generate short (free) five-second video clips based on textual descriptions.

Presentation slides

Gamma (https://gamma.app) – Quickly creates polished slide presentations that users can edit and customise. Presentations can be based on a title, pre-written text, or existing slides. Created presentations can be used directly from the app’s cloud or exported as a PDF. The free version offers 400 credits.

Slidesgo (https://slidesgo.com) – Generates presentations based on a chosen theme, tone, and style. The free version allows users to edit existing slides, adjust text and design, and change colours. Presentations can be exported as PDFs.
