25 Years of Neuroscience Doctoral Education in Estonia

Conference “Neuroscience: Innovation and the Next Generation – 25 Years of Neuroscience Doctoral Education in Estonia”

This year marks the 25th anniversary of doctoral education in neuroscience at the University of Tartu. The anniversary event will look back at the development of neuroscience in Estonia, but above all, we want to discuss where neuroscience is heading over the next 25 years and what kind of neuroscience Estonia will need in the future.

Throughout the day, the programme will bring together basic and clinical neuroscience, psychiatry and neurology, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, translational research, and knowledge transfer. We will discuss how neuroscience is changing, how scientific discoveries can move from the laboratory to patients and society, and what opportunities doctoral education in neuroscience can offer the next generation of researchers.

Speakers include Mart Saarma, Pille Taba, Jaan Aru, Tõnis Timmusk, Tambet Teesalu, and Vootele Võikar. A detailed programme will be announced soon.

The event is open to everyone interested in neuroscience across disciplines – researchers, physicians and other healthcare professionals, doctoral and Master’s students, current and prospective supervisors, as well as representatives from technology, AI, and knowledge transfer.

A dedicated programme will also be available for doctoral students and early-career researchers: present your research at the poster session, take part in one-to-one mentoring with neuroscience alumni, and connect with experts from different fields.

Language: Estonian, with simultaneous interpretation into English provided.

Poster session
Doctoral students and early-career researchers are invited to present their research at the poster session. Poster presenters should prepare a poster in Estonian (except for non-Estonian-speaking participants). The poster should fit a display board measuring 120 cm (height) × 100 cm (width).
Posters should be put up on the morning of the event before the programme begins. During the poster session, presenters are expected to remain by their posters to present their research and discuss it with other participants.
