Laurits Leedjärv Discusses Exoplanet Research and ARIEL Mission on Kuku Radio

On 10.02.2025, EXOHOST team member Laurits Leedjärv appeared on Kuku Radio’s programme “Kuue samba taga” to talk about recent developments in the study of exoplanets and Estonia’s role in the European Space Agency’s (ESA) ARIEL mission, scheduled for launch in 2029.

During the broadcast, Leedjärv explained how scientists study planets beyond our solar system and highlighted the contributions of Tartu Observatory researchers to the ARIEL mission, which will observe the atmospheres of exoplanets to better understand their composition, formation, and evolution. He also discussed the broader significance of exoplanet research for astronomy and space science, as well as the technical challenges of preparing a space telescope for launch.

Leedjärv’s interview showcased Estonia’s active participation in international space projects and the expertise of Tartu Observatory scientists in cutting-edge astrophysical research.
