Veronika Mitrokhina Participates in AI in Astrochemistry Training School

Veronika Mitrokhina, researcher in the EXOHOST project, attended the COST NanoSpace “AI in Astrochemistry” Training School, held from 5–8 August 2025 at Aalto University in Helsinki. The school focused on applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) tools to astrochemical problems, bringing together young researchers and experts to explore how these techniques can accelerate discovery in chemistry and astrophysics.

During the school’s poster session, Mitrokhina presented her work titled “Detectability of Deuterium in the Spectra of A-type Stars”. She discussed how synthetic spectral modelling combined with advanced statistical techniques (like MCMC) can reveal whether deuterium — potentially accreted from planetary material — leaves detectable signatures in stellar atmospheres.

Her participation underscores EXOHOST’s interdisciplinary engagement, merging stellar astrophysics, planetary science, and modern computational methods to address fundamental questions about star‑planet chemical interactions.
