(External link) / 06-07.11.2024

From 6 to 7 November 2024, members of the EXOHOST consortium gathered in Uppsala, Sweden, for a “Research Practices” workshop aimed at strengthening collaboration, research culture, and methodological approaches across the project.

Over two days, the workshop covered key topics such as career development, work‑life balance, research funding, and data management:

  • On Day 1 (6 November), participants discussed recruitment and career development (led by Eric Stempels), the balance between research and teaching (Andreas Korn), and research funding including local support (Nikolai Piskunov).
  • The afternoon session focused on research training, courses, observing runs (Oleg Kochukhov), followed by an informal EXOHOST Steering Board meeting and dinner.
  • On Day 2 (7 November), conversations turned to international collaboration, infrastructure development (Diane Feuillet), research dissemination and outreach (Linn Boldt‑Christmas), and data processing methodology (Ulrike Heiter).
  • The day concluded with an astronomy seminar at Uppsala University and informal talks with Uppsala staff.

The workshop provided a valuable platform for EXOHOST researchers to reflect on best practices, debate future strategies, and foster a collaborative environment for the consortium’s work.

Materials and slide decks from the workshop are publicly available.
