EUROPE DIRECT Tartu

Welcome to the Europe Direct Tartu!
Our goal is to provide the people of Tartu and Southern Estonia with access to up-to-date information about the European Union, promote democratic values, and strengthen media literacy and informed use of information in society. We also aim to improve understanding of how the EU works and what it offers to its citizens.
We invite everyone interested to visit the EU Information Centre located in the main hall on the second floor of the library, submit inquiries, use our printed and digital materials, and take part in events.
We work in cooperation with teachers and various community groups to carry out trainings, discussions, and educational programmes both in the library and beyond.
We continue to operate as a European Documentation Centre (EDC), which has provided access to official EU documents and supported research and academic work since 1992. Europe Direct Tartu and the EDC combine their resources to better support informed public participation in shaping Europe’s future.
How can we help?
- We provide information about EU legislation, funding opportunities, and study, internship, and employment options across Europe.
- We respond to EU-related inquiries from individuals, teachers, entrepreneurs, and non-profit organisations.
- We offer EU-themed printed materials and a variety of digital resources.
- We organise free trainings, workshops, lectures, and discussions both on-site and in cooperation with partners, including schools and community centres.
- We share information about international project calls.
- We support discussions on European values and the future of Europe by engaging diverse target groups.
Please note that we cannot offer legal advice or interpret EU legislation.
Where to find materials?
- The Europe Direct information point is located in the main hall on the second floor of the library. In addition to printed materials, it offers thematic displays, on-site consultations, educational resources, and information about EU-related events and training opportunities.
- Printed materials (such as legislative documents, publications from EU institutions, and other relevant literature) are available on the open shelves of the European Documentation Centre (EDC) on the third floor of the University of Tartu Library.
