From 18 to 22 March 2024, the international NordTradCraft network’s intensive course Craft Symposium brought together more than 70 participants from seven universities in four countries.
The symposium has been the most important and voluminous part of the network’s activities since its establishment in 2019.
The 3rd Craft Symposium was hosted by the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN) Campus Rauland, welcoming students and teachers from University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy (Viljandi, Estonia), Pallas University of Applied Sciences (Tartu, Estonia), University of Eastern Finland (Joensuu, Finland), University of Helsinki (Helsinki, Finland), Uppsala University (Uppsala, Sweden) and University of Gothenburg (Mariestad, Sweden).
The symposium featured workshops, seminars and lectures on the central theme: Identity Through Craft. Craft students and teachers from each participating institution could get involved in organising the event and supervising the workshops.
The Nordic Council of Ministers supports the event through the Nordplus Higher Education Programme (project NPHE-2023). The symposium is part of the participating students’ studies in their home institutions. The Erasmus+ programme funds some of the participating teachers’ mobility.
