Post Conference Excursion

Our post conference excursion brings us to Saaremaa, the largest island of Estonia.

It is a beautiful, special place with unique nature.

Day 1 (1st July)

We start in Tartu early morning. We will ride the bus to the Virtsu harbour where we will take a ferry to the Muhu Island. We will visit the beautiful Pädaste manor and an ancient sacrificial stone in Paenase.

On this day we will have lunchboxes with us.

After that we will continue our trip to Saaremaa where we will visit the Valjala church and stronghold which was a major ringfort on the island. After that we will see the unique meteorite crater in Kaali.

In the afternoon we will arrive in Kuressaare where we will stay overnight in a seaside spa hotel close to a Medieval episcopal castle. We will visit and have an exclusive dinner in the castle.

Day 2 (2nd July)

On the second day we will see a lot of beautiful nature. We will visit different types of beach (sandy and rocky), alvars and springs in Saaremaa, as well as the Panga cliff.

We will have lunch in Angla where we will visit the historical Angla windmill park and heritage center.

Our excursion ends in Tallinn at 9:30 PM.

The excursion will be guided by Prof. Ülo Mander (University of Tartu) and Dr. Urmas Peterson (Estonian University of Life Sciences).

The cost of excursion is 310 euros.

 

It includes the bus, spa accommodation for one night, one breakfast, two lunches, one exclusive dinner, all ferry and museum tickets.

Registration for the post-conference excursion is open until 1st July 2022 or until fully booked.
