TRANSMEDIAL TURN?
\nPOTENTIALS, PROBLEMS AND POINTS TO CONSIDER<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

8\u201311\u00a0December\u00a02020,\u00a0University of Tartu, Estonia<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As the title of the conference indicates, the central topic of inquiry\u00a0is the cultural shift from logocentric to increasingly intersemiotic,\u00a0intermedial and transmedial processes and its impact on disciplines that study textual transfers, relations between semiotic systems or media, and new media practices.\u00a0We foreground the notion \u2018transmedia\u2019 \u2013\u00a0with its prefix trans-<\/em> meaning\u00a0\u2018across\u2019, \u2018beyond\u2019, \u2018through\u2019 \u2013\u00a0to highlight the ubiquity of\u00a0processes and\u00a0phenomena of media crossovers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The conference aims at bringing together scholars from disciplines interested in textual transfers across languages, genres and media, among them Translation Studies, Semiotics, and Adaptation\u00a0Studies, and to promote a more complex understanding of\u00a0the\u00a0transmedial processes and phenomena in culture, particularly of the diverse and novel\u00a0theoretical perspectives, concepts and\u00a0methods\u00a0used in various disciplines for approaching these processes and phenomena.<\/span><\/p>\n
