The film is a mixture of magic, black humor and romantic love. In a poor Estonian village, a group of peasants use magic and folk remedies to survive the winter, and a young woman tries to get a young man to love her.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The film was nominated as an Estonian candidate for Foreign Film Oscar and\u00a0has also won several awards for camera work and set design.<\/p>\n<p>The book has been translated into Finnish\u00a0(<i>Riihiukko eli Marraskuu<\/i>; 2002), Norwegian\u00a0(<i>Trollskap i november<\/i>; 2004), Hungarian\u00a0(<i>\u00d6rd\u00f6ng\u00f6s id\u0151k<\/i>; 2004), Latvian\u00a0(<i>Rijkuris jeb Novembris<\/i>; 2009),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/et.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vene_keel\">R<\/a>ussian\u00a0(<i>\u041d\u043e\u044f\u0431\u0440\u044c, \u0438\u043b\u0438 \u0413\u0443\u043c\u0435\u043d\u0449\u0438\u043a<\/i>; 2009) and French\u00a0(<i>Les Groseilles de novembre<\/i>; 2014). When an officer gets to the hotel everything seems to be alright. Suddenly an avalanche cuts them out from the rest of the world and strange things are going to happen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The novel was originally published in 1970 in Russian, under the title\u00a0<i>\u041e\u0442\u0435\u043b\u044c \u00ab\u0423 \u041f\u043e\u0433\u0438\u0431\u0448\u0435\u0433\u043e \u0410\u043b\u044c\u043f\u0438\u043d\u0438\u0441\u0442\u0430\u00bb<\/i>. The book has been translated into English (<em>The Dead Mountaineer\u2019s Inn<\/em>,\u00a02015 and <em>Inspector Glebsky\u2019s Puzzle<\/em>, 1988).\u00a0It has also been staged as radio theatre (2007) and adapted as a video game in 2009.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 22px;\"><span style=\"color: #daa520;\"><strong>BREAKFAST ON THE GRASS <\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">(<em>Eine murul<\/em>, Priit P\u00e4rn, 1987)<\/span><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-29\" title=\"zavtrak.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/387\/zavtrak.jpg\" alt=\"zavtrak\" width=\"204\" height=\"300\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-30\" title=\"eine.jpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/387\/eine.jpeg\" alt=\"eine\" width=\"536\" height=\"300\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">In a colorless, totalitarian society, where the basic necessities are scarce, 4 individuals use what they can to fulfill their artistic objective.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Priit P\u00e4rn\u2019s films attracted attention with their na\u00efve drawing style and controversy for a perspective on life behind the \u2018iron curtain\u2019 that would have been considered dangerously subversive a decade previously.\u00a0P\u00e4rn managed to sidestep both the Disney-style kiddie cuteness previously prescribed by the government controlled\u00a0Soyuzmultfilm\u00a0studio and the dull preaching of a lot of his contemporaries\u2019 \u2018serious\u2019 political animation. Along with the gritty social commentary, his films are also characterised by bizarre, surreal and ironic humour.
