He is a member of the Institut de Droit International and of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe. He has published extensively on the history and theory of international law in Russia and the Soviet Union and is the co-editor of <em>The Oxford Handbook of International Law in Europe<\/em> as well as the author of the monograph <em>Russia, the Soviet Union, and Imperial Continuity in International Law<\/em> (OUP, 2025). Her research examines the politics of international law in Eastern Europe and Eurasia, with a particular focus on how legal norms, sovereignty claims, and international authority are contested and instrumentalised in contexts of war and protracted conflict. She has published widely in leading journals such as Europe-Asia Studies, Global Policy, and the Review of Central and East European Law, and is the author of <em>Law in the Twilight<\/em> (Cambridge University Press, 2018) and co-author of <em>Frieden verhandeln im Krieg (Negotiating Peace during War)<\/em> (2024). Her current work explores the role of international law in imperial continuity, territorial contestation, and the restructuring of global order. His research has been focused mainly on constitutional law and intellectual history.
