On behalf of the organizing committee, we announce that the U4Society Social Sciences, Economics and Law (SSEL) Conference on "Social Responsibility in Challenging Times" is postponed to October 7-8, 2021.

The conference will be held ONLINE. The conference aims to bring together researchers and PhD students from the participating U4 Society Network universities (Ghent, Göttingen, Groningen, Uppsala and Tartu) and the universities from the ENLIGHT consortium (Basque Country, Bordeaux, Comenius Bratislava, Galway, Ghent, Göttingen, Groningen, Tartu, and Uppsala). 

With some of Europe's leading social scientists as speakers, as well as contributions from a wide array of disciplines and practices, the SSEL conference will showcase advanced research and explore the uses of social sciences in these turbulent times.

The conference theme Social Responsibility in Challenging Times offers us an opportunity to discuss various aspects of politics, democracy, as well as education, migration, and well-being. Opening panel discussions on topics such as governance in the digital era, the welfare state, childhood vulnerability, gender, personality, productivity, residential segregation and the replication crisis, among others, the conference seeks to encourage the discussion on the role of social sciences forward. 

Hosting a number of sessions organized into panels focused on specific topics the SSEL cluster conference in Tartu welcomes a discussion on the role of social responsibility in our challenging times.
