{"id":711,"date":"2026-03-05T11:51:11","date_gmt":"2026-03-05T09:51:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/sime\/?p=711"},"modified":"2026-04-02T12:53:03","modified_gmt":"2026-04-02T09:53:03","slug":"dr-indrek-teino-joins-the-laboratory-animal-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/sime\/dr-indrek-teino-joins-the-laboratory-animal-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Indrek Teino joins the Laboratory Animal Centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Laboratory Animal Centre is pleased to welcome <strong>Dr. Indrek Teino<\/strong>, who has officially joined the centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Indrek Teino received Estonian research council grant to Study mRNA Modifications in Neurodegenerative Diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Indrek Teino completed his master\u2019s degree in gene technology at the University of Tartu in 2011 and earned his PhD in 2020 from the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of Tartu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Teino\u2019s research focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying neuronal degeneration in parkinson\u2019s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders, with a particular emphasis on mRNA N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modifications. In his project, he uses dopaminergic neurons differentiated from human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to investigate how m6A regulates the transport of synaptic mRNAs and their local translation.
