separate module on inclusive teaching, as a reminder it is worth repeating what inclusive pedagogy is. Inclusive teaching focuses on two dimensions:\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t1) strategies to create learning environments based on the\u00a0values and skills\u00a0of inclusive communication;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t2) reflective strategies to address challenges that might occur in diverse classrooms.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tEducators practicing inclusive pedagogy recognize\u00a0diversity as an added value for learning. To that end, they establish\u00a0ground rules of respectful communication, debate, and conflict solving in class. They also\u00a0design assessment strategies to reward inclusive behaviors among students. How can inclusive pedagogy be practiced online?\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<h2>\n\tSafe and inclusive\u00a0online\u00a0learning environment:\u00a0<br>\n<\/h2>\n<p>\n\tAccording to Andrea Dominigue (2016), for inclusive teaching practices\u00a0online,\u00a0instructors must consider the following elements:\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t1) student demographics,\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t2) learning formats, and\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t3) accommodations.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThese elements highlight the unique structure of online education and invite instructors to deliberately plan their classes to not only facilitate participation from students, but also create an environment that is comfortable for every student to intellectually engage in any topic of discussion. Considering the potentially wide diversity of students in an online class, their needs and experiences will also greatly vary.
