Tugeva allergia t\u00f5ttu tuli tal aga kirurgiametist loobuda. Ta suunati arstiteaduskonna biokeemia kateedrisse, kus tema \u00fclesandeks sai radioaktiivsete materjalide rakendamine meditsiinilises biokeemias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-16018d1d wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button has-custom-width wp-block-button__width-50 has-custom-font-size has-large-font-size\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"http:\/\/arhiiv.err.ee\/guid\/20180525003351201000300112290E2BA238B440000002912B00000D0F015977\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Vaata intervjuud siit<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\">1960ndate alguses tekkis Artur Linnul huvi nukleiinhapete vastu ning koos esimeste \u00f5pilastega \u2013 Richard Villems ja Mart Saarma \u2013 alustati ribosoomi koostises olevate ribonukleiinhapete uurimisega. Leiti, et lisaks k\u00f5rgmolekulaarsetele ribosoomi RNA-dele on imetajate ribosoomis ka v\u00e4ikesed RNA molekulid. Seda madalmolekulaarset ribonukleiinhapete (nimetatakse 5S RNA) kirjeldav artikkel avaldati Tartu Riikliku \u00dclikooli Toimetistes (Uchenye zapiski Tartuskogo gosudarstvennogo universiteta) 1963? aastal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\">\u00dcks t\u00f6\u00f6mahukamast projektidest oli roti maksast eraldatud ribsoomi 5S RNA nukleotiidse j\u00e4rjestuse kindlaks tegemine. 1970ndatel hakati uurima ribosoomi koostises olevaid valke ning valk-RNA seondumist. 1980 aastal m\u00e4\u00e4rati uurimisr\u00fchmale Eesti NSV riiklik preemia ribosoomis toimuvate RNA-valk interaktsioonide uurimise eest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 45%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-large-font-size\">Ajakirjaniku k\u00fcsimusele \u201c<strong>miks te just ribosoome uurisite?\u201d <\/strong>vastas Richard Villems \u201c\u2026<strong>ribosoomide uurimine on lihtsalt t\u00e4htis<\/strong>, sest valgu bios\u00fcntees \u2013 geneetilise informatsiooni translatsioon \u2013 on eluslooduse keskne protsess.
