The travelling exhibition starts its journey from Viljandi. The exhibition is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of UT Viljandi Academy of Culture\u2019s heritage technology curriculum. An imaginary river carries the crafts of the past to us, shapes these according to current understandings and taste preferences, and passes on to future generations. The idea for the exhibition began two years ago during a trip to Muhu Island when Liis Tamm visited a knitting house located in the former cultural centre in N\u00f5mmk\u00fcla.\u00a0 Exhibition: different wool textile experiments created from local materials, for finding new applications for this local resource, enhancing its value and utility.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition introduces the everyday life of Ruhnu island musicians in the 19th and 20th centuries and allows the visitor to have an insight into the cultural space of Ruhn Sweden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Viljandi Museum\u2019s food culture exhibition is part of the main program of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024. The exhibition brings together the cooking skills and stories of different generations. It introduces the heritage and explores local food culture and survival, looking back at the early days of the Republic of Estonia. The exhibition includes lectures and workshops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition by Heiki P\u00e4rt provides a cross-section of building types, architectural gems and more broadly designed public spaces that have been important to the community at different times up to the present day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The heritage festival\u2019s educational program invited children to put down on paper their vision of what everyone\u2019s personal \u2018Kratt\u2019 could look like, and what awesome legacy they could bring from the past to the present. The best works will be exhibited in the Viljandi City Library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Designer, researcher, and a gardener by heart Marta invites visitors to her garden at Viljandimaa <\/strong>to respond, slow down, decompose patterns, regenerate, repair, and provoke a shift in aesthetics. There we sow confusion and forage knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This exhibition gives an overview of entries that tell stories of living with heritage from communities in Viljandimaa, Mulgimaa, and Soomaa regions \u2013 old Viljandimaa. The Estonian intangible cultural heritage inventory is a means of keeping and interpreting the living heritage, and its values.\u00a0 The inventory is guided by the principles of the UNESCO Convention for Safeguarding the Intangible Cultural Heritage, its inventory managed by the Estonian Centre of Folk Culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Kratt\u2019 is a sorcerous creature, a tireless helper known from folklore, that flies around in a stream of fire or sparks and collects various possessions for its master. \u2018Kratt\u2019 at Vabaduse Square was made by the Viljandi city master and blacksmith T\u00f5nis Luik.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Photo exhibition of activities related to dugout boats. Both finished and unfinished expanded dugout boats can be seen, and various handicraft tools needed for the craft will be introduced together with handmade consumer items that are related to dugout boats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Textiles from the collections of the Heimtali department of the Estonian National Museum. Patched, darned, remade, renewed items from 100 years ago, and today, inspired by historical mends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CHEERING THE WEDDING!<\/strong> Wedding exhibition \/ <\/strong>H\u00d5ISSA, PULMAD! <\/strong>Pulman\u00e4itus<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition gives an overview of our oldest traditional wedding customs. Even though what weddings look like has changed a lot over time, their main part has remained the same \u2013 a wedding is the co-creation of a community, two people, and their families. One of the exhibition\u2019s aims is to show the possibility of integrating old wedding customs into a modern one.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition offers an overview of the world of flax. Through time, linen has been a beloved and well-known textile material, but how much do we really know about its journey from flax plant to fabric?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our exhibition has a minimal ecological footprint impact on nature. We have made new clothes from ten old men\u2019s shirts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raku ware is a type of Japanese pottery from the 17th century, traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremonies. The Western version of raku was developed in the 20th century by studio potters.

DON\u2019T THROW ME AWAY! Exhibition by the conservators of the National Archives of Estonia \/ \u00c4RA VISKA MIND \u00c4RA! RA Tartu konservaatorite n\u00e4itus. <\/strong>Esindaja\/representer K\u00fcllike Pihkva<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When conservators from the Estonian National Archives gave a new function to the debris found at their worktable using leafcasting, an exhibition was born. We did rush art by mixing pieces from history with values, via rethinking and reusing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ahto Raudoja\u2019s exhibition of small Orthodox village chapels gives an overview of this peculiar architectural manifestation, common throughout the Orthodox cultural space but absent elsewhere in Estonia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exhibition by Arnstein Brekke. The Building Conservation Project is a regional knowledge centre for building conservation,established on\u00a0 Aarnstein Brekkes\u2019 initiative 30 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Timber has been a traditional building material in Estonia throughout the ages. With the advent of the 21st century, this previously ostracised material has experienced a renaissance. This exhibition gives a brief overview of both the heritage and the current trends of timber construction, from farms to modern buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The women of Kihnu who ride on a motorcycle with a side basket have now become world famous. Birgit P\u00fcve\u2019s photo exhibition introduces the vibrant motorcycle culture, honored next to the traditional cultural heritage in everyday life. In addition to a book introducing the topic and a genuine artefact, a motorcycle, Kihnu\u2019s cultural heritage spokesman Mare M\u00e4tas will be present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
