\n\t\u2013 On 1 April Irina Paert<\/strong><\/span> gave a presentation<\/a> \u201cA Clergyman\u2019s Daughter at the Age of Equality\u201d at the BASEES Annual conference 2023 (Glasgow, 31 March-2 April 2023).\n<\/p>\n

\n\t\u2013 Irina Paert, Andrey Shishkov <\/strong><\/span>and Alison Kolosova<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0participated in the 2nd mega-conference of the International Orthodox Theological Association in Volos, Greece (11-15 January 2023)<\/a>. More then 400 participants joined\u00a0the largest forum of Orthodox scholars in the world.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIrina Paert<\/strong><\/span> presented a paper \u201c\u2018May All Our Enemies Be Struck with Terror\u2019: How Do Orthodox Christians Pray for Peace in the Year 2022?\u201d at the session \u201cTeaching and Praying Orthodoxy on the Basis of the Patristic Sources in Modern Slavic Theology.\u201d She also recorded a lecture in the series \u201cIOTA Talks\u201c on Orthodox conciliarity. And moderated two sessions.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAlison Kolosova<\/strong><\/span> presented a paper\u00a0\u201cLimits of Inculturation: Nikolai Ilminskii\u2019s Missionary Vision and Its Implementation in Late 19th\/Early 20th Century Russia\u201d at the session \u201cSlavic Orthodoxy and Mission, 19th-20th c.\u201d She also gave an IOTA Talk on the Orthodox mission today.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAndrey Shishkov<\/strong><\/span> presented a paper \u201cGod, Grace, and Object-Oriented Approach\u201d at the session \u201cPhilosophical Theology as a Pattern for Metaphysical Speculation.\u201d. He was one of the speakers on the panel discussion around the newly published book \u201cThe Moralist International: Russia in the Global Culture Wars.\u201d\u00a0Shishkov<\/strong><\/span> and Paert<\/strong><\/span> also participated in panel discussion on the document \u201cFor the Life of the World: Toward a Social Ethos of the Orthodox Church.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n<\/h2>\n

\n\t\u2013 On 7-8 December\u00a0Andrey Shishkov<\/strong><\/span> and Irina Paert <\/span><\/strong>gave a two days lecture course on the contemporary Russian Orthodox Church in the Ministry of Education and Research of Estonia.\n<\/p>\n

\n\t\u2013\u00a0On 16 November Orthodoxy as Solidarity project\u00a0presented a special forum \u201cConfession, Loyalty, and National Indifference\u201d (Ab Imperio 2, 2022<\/a>). Participants:\u00a0Liliya Berezhnaya<\/strong> (University of M\u00fcnster),\u00a0Catherine Gibson<\/strong> (University of Tartu),\u00a0Irina Paert<\/strong><\/span> (University of Tartu),\u00a0Darius Stali\u016bnas<\/strong> (Institute for Lithuanian History),\u00a0James A. Kapal\u00f3<\/strong> (University College Cork).\u00a0Andrey Shishkov<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0served as a moderator.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Forum includes five articles that address the problem of emerging collective identity through the entanglement of complementing and conflicting forms of groupness: religious, political, and ethnic. The introductory essay conceptually frames these studies in terms of national indifference and confessional ambiguity, underscoring the role of religious collective identities in forging other forms of groupness\u2013ethnocultural and political.\n<\/p>\n
