Stories from sexual and gender minorities in the 20th century Estonia<\/a><strong>.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>The curator of the new audio journey is Rebeka P\u00f5ldsam, a doctoral student in ethnology at the University of Tartu. The new audio guide layer guides the exhibition visitor through the Vabamu permanent exhibition, drawing attention to some new and some old objects that help understand Estonia\u2019s LGBT history.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:24px\">Conference\u00a0Post\/Socialist Memory Cultures in Transition<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<strong>On Sept 20-23, 2023\u00a0<\/strong>the international conference\u00a0<a data-url=\"https:\/\/konverentsikeskus.tlu.ee\/en\/2nd-posocomes-conference\" href=\"https:\/\/konverentsikeskus.tlu.ee\/en\/2nd-posocomes-conference\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Post-Socialist Memory Cultures in Transition\u00a0<\/a>took place\u00a0in Tallinn, co-organized by our project team.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe aim of the conference was\u00a0to study the changes in post-socialist, especially Eastern, Central and South-East European memory cultures, which have emerged as a result of transnational, regional, national and local tensions and interactions, and have received a new direction since Russia\u2019s war of aggression in Ukraine. One of the common themes of the conference was\u00a0\u201cMnemonic pluralism and critical dialogue in museums\u201d. In five panels discussing museum and memory work, researchers and museum workers from Ukraine, Poland, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, France, Hungary, the Netherlands and Estonia presented their research. A separate panel was devoted to the vulnerability and preservation of Ukrainian cultural heritage in war conditions. One of the plenary speakers at the conference was Erica Lehrer from Concordia University.The other organizers of the conference are Tallinn University Project Translated Memory: Eastern European Past on the Global Arena (ERC, Eneken Laanes) and the Working Group for Post-Socialist and Comparative Memory Studies (PoSoCoMeS).\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:24px\">Presentations<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<strong>Ene K\u00f5resaar<\/strong> will be presenting at the Nordic Voices Project\u2019s workshop \u201c<a data-url=\"https:\/\/blogit.utu.fi\/nordicvoices\/autum-2022-2\/\" href=\"https:\/\/blogit.utu.fi\/nordicvoices\/autum-2022-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Oral histories, life stories and analysing significance in museums<\/a>\u201c, October 5-7, 2023,<strong> <\/strong>University of Turku.
