While August may feel quiet in universities and schools, it\u2019s the perfect moment to pause, celebrate, and reflect on how far we\u2019ve come as a LIFT community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A Year Ago: The Beginning<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"602\" height=\"448\" src=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/839\/1y_p1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-894\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/839\/1y_p1.jpg 602w, https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/839\/1y_p1-300x223.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 602px) 100vw, 602px\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In August 2024, our consortium of universities and teacher educators came together with a shared vision: to strengthen teacher education across Europe through <strong>lesson study (LS)<\/strong>. Our ambitions were clear:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Empower pre-service teachers <\/strong>by equipping them with skills and capabilities for their future teaching careers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Promote the use of LS in initial teacher education <\/strong>tackling the sporadic and uncoordinated implementation across Europe.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Unite European higher education institutions<\/strong> that use LS, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Establish a common framework for LS in Europe<\/strong> to guide and support consistent implementation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Develop a blueprint<\/strong> to make LS more practical and accessible in initial teacher education.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Highlights From Our First Year<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/839\/1y_p2-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-895\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/839\/1y_p2-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/839\/1y_p2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/839\/1y_p2-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/839\/1y_p2.jpg 1379w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The past 12 months have been full of learning and collaboration. Together, we have:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Held <strong>seven project meetings<\/strong> to exchange ideas, review progress, and plan joint activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Immersed ourselves in <strong>one week of LS experience in Leeuwarden<\/strong> during the LEAP week.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Produced a <strong>preliminary research report<\/strong> based on findings from the LEAP week.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Completed the <strong>first version of the blueprint<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submitted and had <strong>two presentations accepted at the WALS and EAPRIL 2025 conferences.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/839\/1y_p3-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-896\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/839\/1y_p3-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/839\/1y_p3-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/839\/1y_p3-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sisu.ut.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/839\/1y_p3.jpg 1379w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Looking Ahead<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has been a year of <strong>listening, learning, and laying the foundation<\/strong>. As we move into year two, we are excited to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Continue developing the <strong>blueprint<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Roll out <strong>training and pilot delivery<\/strong> of the blueprint.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Share <strong>resources and outcomes<\/strong> with the wider LS community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A <strong>BIG thank you<\/strong> to all our partners, teachers, teacher educators, pre-service teachers and students who have contributed to this journey. Together, we are shaping a stronger, Europe-wide community for lesson study.
